I regret reading that completely.

My greatest fear is nothingness after death. No thoughts, no memories, no sense, no vision, nothing. It makes me feel physically sick thinking about it. I don't want to die. I don't fear the circumstance of my death, I'm fine with whatever may kill me, I understand it. But I don't want nothing. Is that my reward for my life? The pain, the tedium, the fighting to reach whatever point I'm at when i die? My reward is nothingness for eternity, that I can't even be aware of?

Life is struggle.
The truth is that all animals are locked in a vicious circle to survive and pass on their DNA. Pain is a creation of the mind to shield it's DNA from being destroyed. It doesn't actually exist. In fact 90% of pain is the anxiety that you might be damaged. That's why those who are allergic to anesthesia are injected with a mixture of xanax and valium, both drugs which reduce anxiety.

You won't be aware at all, so you can't really complain... there will be nothing to complain about and nothing to complain with.

It's the fear that drives people to religion, to quote the great Dylan Moran " It was basically decided in the 20th century that religion is nothing more than a formalized panic about death, quick ! Death is coming, put on the gold hat"

I am a man of reason, so I can never fully accept religion, but this fear means I can never fully accept nothingness.

I don't know how you're so fine with it. Just there, in the dark, no memories to comfort you, no thoughts to pass eternity. It's kind of a massive kick in the balls. All you did reduced to nothing, you can't even see the effects of what you did, you won't even remember. For all your hard work, you get squat ****.

That's how I form my outlook on life.
There is sweet **** all after death so there is no excuse for not doing everything you can while alive. A man of pleasure if you will.
It also relieves a great deal of stress once you accept that in the end, it all really doesn't matter, nothing matters in all honesty.
However, on the basis of relationships I have two ways of looking at it. We exist for the moment so it would be good to be as nice as possible to those you like, and at the same time, take absolutely no **** from the people you don't. They're going to die aswell, they will too be absorbed by the nothingness.
Life is like a laptop, if you don't shut it down it's going to get slower.

Yeah, but I try my hardest to be an optimist. Besides, if we are just computers then who programmed us? Who programmed him? blah de blah blah. There are billions of questions that won't be answered in this life time. Just like how they say the "god" particle exists, but we have no proof of it. "But we know its there! DNA programmed us.
We are nothing but the vessel for carrying DNA, the only reason we developed a consciousness was to facilitate that process better.
That's because certain principles of math depend on the existence. However a fundamental part of physics cannot be compared to an almighty creator. Apples to oranges etc.
But in all honestly, nihilistic agnosticism is probably the best bet...

yeah some nice fella gave it to me. ever since warhammer 40k started getting popular for no reason whatsoever i decided to start stocking up on pics. ive always been a huge fan, though i havent played the tabletop much. too expensive.

I'm a fan of the lore. I sometimes direct some warhammer 40k roleplaying games to my friends and love the books and the pc games but I haven't trayed either the table top game. As you've pointed out, it's too expensive.

the lore is really good, thats my favorite part. the games are what got me back in to it. the games are pretty good i recommend trying them. dawn of war 1+expansions was the best imo

Just to ask you guys, have you ever thought about what death might be like? I personally always figured it was like sleeping without dreams. You don't know when it happened, but there's just nothing, you're gone.

I always thought the worst.
What if when you "die" you don't actually die, your body just shuts off and you no longer control it. So you are still conscious in a sense when you get an autopsy done, or when you are cremated/buried and maggots eat away at you. JUST IN CASE that is the case I am going to be cremated. Unless of course I am somehow conscious still somehow as ashes in which case being torn apart and put in different jars would hurt forever and be oh so cramped.

Either that or you "die" and keep reliving the way you died over and over.

Though another theory I always processed, was that we are reincarnated as ourselves but we live a slightly better or worse life each time, even though they are virtually similar. It would kind of explain deja vu.

Well, since live is only percieved through you, as far as you know. You don't know what's going on in other people's minds. I just believe that you stop being concious. Like the 2 seconds of pitch black when you faint. I think you just stop percieving.

What was there before you were born? Don't remember? Probably because you were basically nothing. In my opinion, death is a beautiful thing; ends one life which has lived (hopefully) untill the end and makes room for more to bloom. Life is truly amazing.

Out of the first five years that I lived, all I remember are bits of it. And I remember seeing faces of my family being born. It was just a black void with their faces being presented. And the next memory I have is of me smashing my face into a table.

Yes, it does say that every person has a need for God, but as is clear to see, it doesn't always result with them becoming Christians.
