but in a communist country, if you pay for it, arent you also sharing your money with everyone else?

Da comrade. Make sure the capitalist pigs don't get their money.

Except it's not a party, its a brutal totalitarian regime where a website like funnyjunk wouldn't exist and a picture like that would be censored.

We can all dream.
User avatar #43 to #30 - thepyras (03/27/2013) [-]
Dream is the right word to use there. If communism worked the way it sounds like it would everyone would love it, but it doesn't. There's not a man on Earth who won't mistreat his people when you give him that much power, which is sad, but that makes it no less true.

To be fair, capitalism doesn't work that great either.
User avatar #150 to #140 - thepyras (03/27/2013) [-]
No, but it's the best system we have.
User avatar #151 to #150 - haroldsaxon (03/27/2013) [-]
We bot know that's not the case
User avatar #152 to #151 - thepyras (03/27/2013) [-]
Name a better one.
User avatar #153 to #152 - haroldsaxon (03/27/2013) [-]
Do you know who first got democracy?
User avatar #154 to #153 - thepyras (03/27/2013) [-]
I'm gonna go with the ancient Greeks.
User avatar #156 to #154 - haroldsaxon (03/27/2013) [-]
It was the Spartans. Athens got the honor for it, because Sparta went back to a much, much better system.

Today the best we got is a mixture of different ideologies. Full capitalism would probably be even worse than full communism, but we can't know that for certain. The Socialism/capitalism seems to be the one working best, at the moment.
User avatar #158 to #156 - thepyras (03/27/2013) [-]
I'm not sure that we can call the type of society Sparta had as being better than anyone, given that they thrived on war and threw "weak" children off of cliffs.
User avatar #161 to #158 - haroldsaxon (03/27/2013) [-]
They had one leader (a king), a council with some power, and some religion **** . The king was always a fantastic leader, and if he didn't do a good job, he'd lose his head. Because there was only 1 family in charge, who ruled for the people, not over them, they had the experience and wisdom no one else had.
User avatar #166 to #161 - thepyras (03/27/2013) [-]
Do you think that would work today in countries with millions of people?
#172 to #166 - haroldsaxon (03/27/2013) [-]
Depends on who's in charge, and I know just the guy...
User avatar #180 to #172 - thepyras (03/27/2013) [-]
The problem we face is that it doesn't depend on who is in charge. We are yet to find a person who would not turn on his people if given the power, and we have no system of choosing anyone to run things who hasn't gotten to their position through corrupt politics.
User avatar #181 to #180 - haroldsaxon (03/27/2013) [-]
Now, that is a problem.
User avatar #183 to #181 - thepyras (03/27/2013) [-]
Indeed. If only there was someone we could trust enough for that. Anyway, it's 5 am and I'm going to bed. Have a nice evening or morning or whatever it is to you.

You're welcome I suppose, but I didn't think I said how it works.
