Hitler was a bad person but he also did a lot of good. He brought Germany out of the horrible state it was in after WW1 single handedly. They were suffering in a recession and improved his citizens quality of life. He was a WW1 veteran also. For ***** sake, he was time magazine's man of the year before and was on the cover more than once... He did some good things and he did some bad things. Germany was a wreck after WW1 with all the sanctions and new rules they had to abide by. He made them a super power once again.

What utter Rubbish! Hitler did nothing to help the German people he only helped himself and his cronies. Germany had economic problems after WW1, certainly, but it was only the failure of the politicians to react to the challenges of the Depression, the rise of Communism in Germany, and Hitler's violent paramilitary organization which brought him to power. And the economy recovered pretty much on its own after 1932 - ever heard of the business cycle? Economic analyses show that his spending programmes had a negligible impact on the economy, other than those proposed by Dr. Halmar Schacht who may have been many things, but certainly wasn't a Nazi. Furthermore, though Hitler certainly saw himself as a German nationalist, it was always his idea of the nation he wanted, and he cared absolutely nothing for the people he ruled: at the very end in 1945 he wanted to destroy the country because his soldiers had "failed" him. And lets not forget the very real devastation he brought to Germany and all the millions that were killed because of him. Hitler was not a good man and his intentions were warped - perhaps not completely for that time since his vision of a racial national socialist or racially socialist empire corresponds rather nicely to the Communists idea of a proletarian socialist society - just subsitute race for social class and retain the hatred and the need to liquidate all others. Nonetheless he is not "fundamentally misunderstood" he really was, if not an evil person, then certainly a man responsible for great evil.

The problem about nazism and the reason you'd be consider for saying that is that we live in a BLACK/WHITE society, where the winner gets to write the story
So, people simplify nazism with evil, if you watch movies you'll see most german soldiers are evil and twisted, when in reality they were normal people summoned for war, who may not even support Hitler, and they DID NOT KNOW about the holocaust(if that really happened)
So, since everything is black and white, they assume that when you say something good about him you love him

I've done the math about the holocaust and the numbers just don't add up... I'd post it all but there's no way in hell it'll all fit and it would take many replies to fit it all.

i love the way you equate "the good things" with "the bad things," like its even. i dont think the murder of millions of people is exactly balanced out by the fact that he helped get an economy back on its feet

Hitler didn't kill millions of jews. The German army did

He murdered millions of people but he also vastly improved the lifes of millions of people. It kind of does balance out number wise. He improved everyone's life in Germany at the time, millions of Germans. He probably helped more people than he killed actually.

By this logic, for every two people I help, I get to kill one. Seems perfectly fair.

yeah for 5 years, with borrowed money so he had to go to war... all of that really isnt too special. How he came to power was way cooler
