PERSONALLY, I think drawing cars is more difficult than a hand.

It's just something about the unnatural, modern lines that seems so hard to me. Natural things feel much easier to draw for me. They always turn out better too. Idk, maybe I've just got art-learning-issues.

Try drawing a crumpled plastic bottle with water in it and either nothing or something in behind (depends on which you find more difficult). Trying to draw a clear liquid in a clear plastic container that still reflects light (and a lot given the fact its crumpled) is extremely hard to capture and look convincing. Sometimes the simpler things that are in our day to day light are actually far more difficult. Things that have recognizable features like a car, even when drawn poorly can still be convincing enough for the audience to understand what it is.

Having said that, it varies from artist to artist. I personally draw portraits fairly easily but I cant draw that said plastic bottle or a jacket draped over a chair worth **** .

Anyone who pursues art will always hate their work. I despise most things I've done, due to little flaws that always ruin it for you. My most recent piece

What you said is very true. I tried to draw till lindemann, and i kept trying to fix it but i can't fix the mistakes. (i gave up around the shirt) and the thing with faces is that one mistake will ruin the portrait. I like your painting by the way, i wish i could blend color like that. What medium did you use?
User avatar #26 to #18 - haydn (03/25/2013) [-]
Good attempt! Proportions are good just need to be softer imo. And I use prismacolor premier pencil crayons :)
#161 to #26 - thejerseyjenn (03/25/2013) [-]
this came out much better i think. the chick looks weird but till and the wolf look alright. For this one I used charcoal. I usually use shading pencils though. When I do paint (rarely) I just use acrylic.

btw can i have your art skill? like right now.

Aha give over. I do lots of different stuff, due to trying to have a varied portfolio to become a tattoo artist :) I got a lot of portrait help with charcoal off David Kassan, check him out!

will do! i only took one year of art in my life and since then i've just been trying to help myself
User avatar #166 to #165 - haydn (03/26/2013) [-]
Yeah I started myself just over a year ago after rekindling it as a passion. Dropped out of uni to pursue it (So been trying hard). Hopefully have a tattoo apprenticeship soon
User avatar #167 to #166 - thejerseyjenn (03/26/2013) [-]
wow that really is commitment! you know what? good for you, i would never have the balls to drop out to pursue a passion without being sure i would land on my feet. more power to you, honestly.
User avatar #168 to #167 - haydn (03/26/2013) [-]
Probably the only person to say that! Was battered on constant for it, think it was due to me being at a very prestigious uni!
User avatar #169 to #168 - thejerseyjenn (03/26/2013) [-]
it's because people are constantly being molded into one form. even me slowly. if someone doesn't conform they stick out and that annoys people. So if you can press on regardless, you go for it.
User avatar #170 to #169 - haydn (03/26/2013) [-]
Very true. At the moment I'm just in a supermarket job paying for my equipment and **** , so it doesn't look good on my part. you got instagram btw? You need to login to view this link :) Always put my work on there

i don't actually because i can only draw when i'm in the zone which only comes every 2 months or so.

this is a tulip i painted when i was in that zone 4 months ago.
User avatar #174 to #173 - haydn (03/26/2013) [-]
That is stunning! Oils or acrylic? I'm terrible at painting tbh, might try it again though
User avatar #175 to #174 - thejerseyjenn (03/26/2013) [-]
why thank you!! Acrylic i tried to paint in oils but it's just way to complicated and it takes too long to dry. and yeah try i mean it can only benefit your skill right?

#143 to #16 - Sacrifice (03/25/2013) [-]
I could not do that. Or the likes of what artjunk has done beneath us.
I suck at realism. I suck at cartoon. I suck at anatomy. I suck at most things art related. But I used to suck more, so I guess that means I've improved over the years..

This little bastard took me about 9 hours. I ain't joking. And that's great, because I usually don't have the attention span to draw more than 30 minutes.
(Dex-Starr is the greatest lantern ever)
User avatar #154 to #143 - haydn (03/25/2013) [-]
Thats awesome! With me, attention span and patience came with time. still not fully there, this should have been a lot better. I can pick out 10 x more flaws than the anons have
#31 to #16 - artjunk (03/25/2013) [-]
Agreed, I vary a lot from comic-style to realism and concept art, but no matter which I'm working on I find flaws in damn near everything.

It's just part of being an artist though, I find it helps me to want to keep growing when i find these kinds of flaws. Just serves to give you perspective on where you're at compared to where you hope to be.

Advice.
drawing=/=art
there is a beauty in not knowing what the **** you're doing. And it makes it more your own as opposed to the art of copying where you just do the thing people started doing to capture moments in time before cameras.

But if you're not interested in anything I just said. Practice simple shapes, still lifes, and shading an hour a day or so and within a year you'll have mastered the art of copying.
#67 to #29 - vortix ONLINE (03/25/2013) [-]
work harder

dont let other artists work stand in your way .

dont look at it and say (i suck) look and say (i will be that good some day just need to practice!)

you will get there just practice then practice then practice...

just a tip: if you want to see your progress look at old art works that you did you will feel the difference.

remember that all FJ artists feel that way you do your not alone

feely feel is allways as feely as can possible be. feel.
