It's funny, because the real glaring problem I had with Twilight (I actually tried to give it an objective fair shake; sue me) is just how likeable a whole lot of the side characters are, compared with the annoying and frustrating main ones. You have Charlie, who is an all-around badass; you have Billy Black and the Cullens, who reminded me of the folksy, lovable townspeople out of a Stephen King novel; you have what may be the single friendliest and most down-to-earth set of high-schoolers in the history of film or the real world (seriously, there's not even the token douchebag jock or bitchy drama queen anywhere to be found!). Ergo, right out the gate I had absolute zero empathy for Bella, who is soooooo booooored with her surroundings and acts sooooooooo sullen when everyone else is enjoying themselves.

I also tried to give it a read. An acquaintance of mine (who is a hardcore Twitard) told me, "It gets good at page 50!"

So I got to page 52, said, "**** this is boring." And stopped reading.

But I agree with you.

I read all the twilight books in middle school. I set a certain level of expectation, and the books pass them. Honestly, you blokes expect every book series to rival Harry Potter and Narina. And you always talk about the movies, and most of you never read the book.
Jacob isn't a werewolf, He can shape shift into a wolf.
Edward doesn't sparkle. its more of a blinding light, really (well it starts off as a blinding light) .
I'm not saying the books are amazing (mediocre at best), and I'm definitely not saying the movies are amazing (great actors, not great acting). I'm just saying, don't put your expectations so high in the bloody sky.

Also what's with you guys and Kristen Stewart (and to a lesser degree, Robert Patterson)? Of course she had little to no emotion in Twilight....That what she is suppose portray. Belle rarely smiled around anyone, excluding Edward. And why would you base her entire career over one role. That's like me basing Jim Carrey's career over Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (which was a very sad and serious movie).
Seriously guy, come on.
yes I am ready for red thumbs.

I read the Twilight books in high school, and then tried to read them again once I reached college. The first time I enjoyed them (with the exception of Breaking Dawn, I still haven't finished that one because it got really stupid). The second time I tried to read them, I realized how badly they were written, especially grammar errors that should have been caught in the editing process. That part annoyed me, but it could be because I now have a job as a writing tutor so I catch those things more often than I used to.
I have seen Kristen Stewart act in several different movies and I have to say, I've only ever seen one movie where I liked her acting (Speak). Other than that I think she did kind of a poor job.

I don't think so. They explain the reason why they can shape shift into wolf. Its like a very old folktale.

My first answer was ******. So I looked it up for ya, mate.

The legend goes that one spirit warrior, Utlapa, wanted to use this power to enslave neighboring tribes, the Hohs and the Makahs. Unwilling to use the warriors' powers for such monstrous purposes, his chief, Taha Aki banished him from the tribe. One day, the chief left his body in a hiding place to sweep through the valley in his spirit form, searching the area for anything that may pose a threat to the tribe. Utlapa followed him and possessed his body, then cut his own body's throat to prevent Taha Aki's return. The chief wandered for a while in spirit form, watching the thief do horrible things to his people. One day, the chief's spirit found a large, beautiful wolf in the woods. Though jealous of the wolf's physical form, an idea came to him. He asked the wolf to share his body with him, and the wolf agreed. Rushing back to the village as the wolf, he met a party of warriors, and tried to make himself known by yelping Quileute songs. One of the warriors, an elderly man named Yut, realized that the wolf was under a spirit's control, and, disobeying the usurper Utlapa's orders not to enter the spirit world, left his body to talk to the beast. The false chief, alarmed at Yut entering the spirit world as he feared that his treachery would be revealed, killed the warrior. Taha Aki became enraged, and lunged to kill the man; his emotions were too much for the wolf, and it transformed into a magnificent human, the glorious flesh interpretation of Taha Aki's flawless spirit. The false chief was killed, and things were rapidly set right. Taha Aki sired many children, and found out that his sons, at the age of manhood, could transform into wolves as well.
That is how the shifters came to be. The whole pack is made of the descendants (to however many degrees) of that original wolf.

I never had any problem with Robert Patterson, in fact I think he has a lot of potential as an actor if he can get the roles. But I have yet to see Kristen Steward pull off a single role well.

I enjoyed the series, but it's hard to ever admit that without getting associated with "twihards". No it isn't on the same level as Harry Potter, but I found it interesting--and yes, there were definitely the crappy parts--but I find that all series have a crappy part (like Hunger Games book 3, or Harry Potter book 5) but by itself, I was entertained. And in regards to the acting, I never really expect much--even the Harry Potter movies always cut out the best parts in my opinion.

But I'm just an anon, what do I know?
