Though it is possible to have twins of opposite gender they are fraternal twins and do not look a like, identical twins have to be the same gender.

True, but I have gotten in the habit after so many years of saying, "I have a twin sister," and the other person will ask, "Identical?" It is just easier to state that I have an identical twin sister so we can get past that.

It seems shifty to me, how can you be genetically different yet still be identical during a blood test?

I did a bit more research and while it is possible for identical twins to be of different sex it is extremely rare. And even then the female get's turner's syndrome.
