It's the cydia icon. Cydia is the platform for jailbroken apple devices, in which you can access restricted content / apps, and actually regain control of your own iphone.

You pretty much just said that you stillhave to put however much effort into jailbreaking your phone so it actually performs well.

I really wonder why people want an iPhone. Just look at the facts - Android phones have the same (often times better!) hardware, they are of the same quality, same battery duration, lower price, tons of free apps from google play and you don't need to jailbrake it to pirate software, you can even use a custom/unique OS if you know what you're doing, no need to use the annoying iTunes...

I asked just asked why they picked a Iphone over other brand? it is answerd with"because it is better"

but everytime we get to the "what is better" most of them can't answer it or we have it on other smartphones to do it better

only real legit answer so far is that it synch well with other apple product that is nice

same go with mac, I cry on the inside when I see people get a mac and not even open the terminal once and only use it for facebook .......

what people use their money on is not my concern but buying brand for it name kinda tell how much they care what people around them think ...instead of care what they really buy (atleast try to see what you can use it for)

Indeed. iPhone's battery is shit, Apple used to make batteries for some of the first iPods that would die out after long use and not be able to be reused...
Also Android gets a screen for widgets which is not on iPhone

I call bullshit. I have an HTC EVO from like 2 years ago and I've always been able to get upto 3 1/2 days out of the battery, even now and it's still the stock battery!

Not that's taking about 3-4 15 minutes calls a day...but i guess i can see how you might get that impression.

light internet use over the duration, on 3G, mostly for google searches
GPS off, Brightness low(no auto), wireless off, 3G off, vibration/touch vibe off, animations off, background data off, and wtih the newest update i had to find the setting that was turning my wifi on every time I passed a wifi router in town. :D

I know I'm probably forgetting something but oh well you get the idea.

My little cheap toss-away phone will last a week with daily 1hr calls and the ridiculous amounts of texts I get.

Oh see I knew i forgot something LOL. yeah texts all day, but those hardly use any CPU/power.

Well I don't have a cheap burner. I like being able to have full internet and GPS on a nice big screen with great sound quality to boot. :P

About the Android part - you can install whatever the hell you want from the web, all you need is a simple file manager app. You only need to root it if you want to use a custom build OS

I literally see toddlers in strollers that have a better phone than me. I have a "really" old slide phone though but I guess the good thing about today is that the excuse for having an old phone can be hipsterish.
I would probably have a smart phone but I don't care much for apps or phone-internet...

I didn't even want a phone but parents thought it would be cheaper to get rid of the home phone and have everyone in the family get a connected cell plan...

same for me. i tried android and windows phone for SEVERAL years after i had my iphone 3gs. problems over problems, either lack of security and overall choppyness (android) or no features (windows phone). i don't give a flying fuck whether i can share music or books, when you buy something at itunes, you agree that the shit has drm. buy at amazon or something if you want it drm free, period. and installing from the web isn't possible on iphone (only with jailbreak), but isn't the appstore "the web" (i dont give a shit when it comes to custom-developer-making-my-phone-unstable-shit). and android and windows phone have a killswitch,too. image people downloaded malware from their stores, customers would go insane, a killswitch is a must-have for any company IMHO.

and because i want to customize my iphone a little it is jailbroken (bought a used iphone 4 because i made too much loss with my shitty phones before i bought it). and it is merely for the notification center toggles and cracked apps (yes, i'm a cheapskate, but dictionaries are too expensive for me as a student)

Last time i checked, the app store for android was risky to even access due to them letting anybody publish their app. I never got to truly get into window phones though. I tried 2 but for some reason, both were extremely laggy and barely functional

i have to admit that google kinda tries to make the play store more secure, but because of the open source philosophy they have they restricted them selves. they can't push everything out of the store again without inducing a global shitstorm anymore. and the more apps you have on your android , the laggier it gets. even the s3 will lag with too much news apps with push messages on. or even some games like Poo have to run in the background, every little shitty app has its own service. when you actually want to USE our android, you are going to have a bad time. and then you may flash another rom on it because you think that it will get better, but with custom roms and kernels you will have more problems in the end than you solved. it's a shame, because the android gui and features are quite nice. the features alone, when you read them. but not more. they are cheaper than the iphone, that's the only reason they are so widely spread. imagine a 200€ iphone before android ics was there, apple could have easlily dominated the global market. steve jobs was too arrogant to degrade the "luxury-status" the apple products have. what a shame

Hmm good point. i currently have an iphone 4s. I plan on upgrading it in the summer to a iPhone 5. Nothing from android has made me think twice about m decisions
