Okay, don't listen to these guys, they have good advice but they don't understand it well enough. Let me explain

Women are VERY tactile creatures, unlike men (Tactile means you speak a lot with your body). Because women are naturally tactile, they can also read a lot into the body language of others (only 30% of conversation is verbal) however, again, men aren't this tactile and women don't understand that (This is why men often "speak their minds" ("Hi" means "Hi", "I'm hungry" means "I'm hungry", "Lets fuck" means "Lets fuck", so on, so fourth) while women are far more subtle, because they're used to their hints being picked up either by likewise tactile males or other females). As a result, a lot of women think their 'flirting' is going unheeded and as a sign of disinterest, while men were unaware there was any flirting going on in the firstplace. If you want to gain the attention and affections of this male companion of yours, simple say so. The worst that'll happen is that he doesn't accept them (shouldn't be a problem you seem like a fine young lady) and then you can move on, while at best you got yourself a boyfriend. Besides, all people find decisiveness and determination attractive, haven't you noticed that nearly all your favourite characters, despite how different they may be, always share the trait that they know exactly what they want?

There is this girl, i flirted with for new years ( i know, ages ago), but we still talk, and i notice her sometimes looking at me while im doing something else, and when i look back she smiles and looks away. problem is, i talked with her and texted a lot after NY, but now she doesn't reply anymore, but still looks at me. What to do?

Sorry for the late reply. I believe she wants you to talk to her. Though I must say I'm guilty of still looking at a guy that broke my heart, honestly because he's attractive. Texting can be an iffy subject, I'd say start talking more to her in person. The smiling and looking away is pretty spot-on girl behavior for her having a crush on you. I'd go for it, dude.

I'm not sure. I had a guy tell me he liked me, and it was a bit awkward at first, but now we're over it and we're great friends. Just whatever comes naturally to you.

Most men communicate about as straight forwards as a fucking Elcor (from Mass Effect, the alien things that literally say what their expression is), we don't really catch onto subtle cues that well.

Men (typically) communicate on one level: Words being spoken & the way they're said.

Women (typically) communicate on several: Words spoken, how, why, and when they're said, Body language (& orientation if you want to be really specific,) all the things that are being avoided (i.e. some embarrassing thing,) and probably something else I'm forgetting about because I'm a guy.

Take it with a pinch of salt though on the parts where it talks about men, since the author is a woman. It's still true though that more often than not you need to directly say what you're feeling or wanting, rather than dropping hints or something because we'll probably just see that as frustrating.

Remember, use your words and that's it.

Based solely on my own experiences, I feel as if what she writes about men is (for the most part) correct. Men are more concerned with information and being direct and that is the gist of what she said.

The way my (now) girlfriend does it is she tells the guy straight up that she kinda likes them and leaves it up to them whether or not anything comes from it. She doesn't like the waiting and stuff.

Guys are pretty damn oblivious. I know I am, at least. Though there's also an element of hope vs false hope going in in their (or at least my) mind in most situations.

To clarify, something like "Man, I hope she likes me. Meh, she probably doesn't. Probably not even worth my time just for more disappointment. I'll still hope for it though."

I can't answer for all guys, but I certainly am. It isn't so much that I'm completely oblivious, it's that I can't always interpret an expression. It is clear when a girl wants to be with you, but determining whether it is romantic or not is the issue.

Also, just saying, if you as a women like someone then just go for it. Don't wait for them to take notice, ask them out instead. A woman who knows what she wants is pretty hot.
