In your body, your cells generally obey whatever it is assigned to do. They live, function, divide, and even die when they are told. Cancer cells ignores those orders, and does whatever it wants, and travel to other parts of your body to proliferate. Most cancers travel to other parts of your body, and proliferates in places it's not supposed to proliferate, and that is incredibly harmful to you.

No, autoimmune is when your immune system (ie, the white blood cells) go heywire and start attacking the body, often mistaking it for some foreign contagion. There are many types of autoimmune but cancer isn't on of them. It is an uncontrolled growth of cells.

Isn't cancer just the unchecked reproduction of cells - which certainly has all sorts of bad side effects, but your immune system killing itself isn't really one of them...

Also, fun fact: People who are immune to the bubonic plague are also immune to AIDS and vice versa.
