uuuh... the only reason it's cheaper is because there is very little demand for it... I can't be the only one that realizes this, can I?

The reason we aren't a big fan of eating horse in this new "crisis" is that we have no idea what is IN the horsemeat.

Medications for non-consumed animals aren't necessarily safe for humans to ingest. If we knew for certain that there weren't any toxic substances in the meat then fewer people would give a **** .

I feel like it would be traditional practice to not eat horses because they are more useful than cows. While cows can do some heavy lifting around the farm (such as pulling the plow) their used to be no more efficient means of travel than a horse.

if you look at the animals that european societies and their descendants consider taboo to eat, they all served a better purpose than food.
horses were your transportation/field work
dogs could help hunt/shepherd
and cats took care of mice problems

if these animals had not been useful in those ways our culture would be accustomed to eating all 3 of them

The whole scandal wasn't due to people thinking eating Horse was disgusting, it's because people were lied to about what they were eating, and they found traces of drugs used on the horses which weren't fit for human consumption.

horses are just hobby animals. Horses don't have a purpose on this planet except to eat hay and die.

He heard cows because it's easier to get more calories, and that don't eat as much as horses, and what they do eat is easy to raise and handle. It's much easier to take care of them.

It's all about survival. The more calories in survival, the better.
