actually OP is correct in a way. Shini does not mean death when it stands alone. Shi is the proper word for death. OP is still correct though as "shini" in shinigami does stand for death. its just been conjugated to make the word for God of Death.

phonetically yes shi is the word for 4 and death kanji wise not sure.
