In the episode, which took place in 2012, Von Staten claim to have found a cure to the common cold in a Russian crater last year, so technically it happened in 2011.

It is season one. its a reboot, and considered a new series (the 2005 series).

It is a continuation. Tennant is the eleventh doctor.

first of all, he is tenth, so your credibility is out the window. Second, there was such a large gap, that its still considered a reboot. Third, a lot of details were changed from the original (Galifrey is locked in a time bubble, The Doctor is the last Timelord, he never returns to Galifrey, etc. etc.) that it is expecially considered a reboot, and therefore the season counter is reset back to 1, making the new season coming out season 7.

It may be a pseudo series 1, but I think it is in fact series 27. Ish.

I may have been wrong about the incarnation, but I know for a fact the producers said it was a direct continuation. And yes, they've had some mild retcons, but not a reboot.

Enlighten me as to how? A reboot is in direct conflict with a direct continuation, which the producers have stated that the 2005 and onwards series' are.

Well then Dr. Who isn't much of an astronomer, considering Asteroids just float around in space and it's actually meteroids that crash into the earth, leaving behind a meteorite.

Also, meteroids are pretty common. And do you know what the largest country in the world is, in square miles? You ******* guessed it, Russia. It's almost twice as big as the second biggest country (China).

Perhaps you will also be astonished by my predictive abilities:

I predict that (insert common occurrence) will happen in the country (insert largest country on earth) at some time in the future.

China isn't big, its just heavily populated. Very very heavily populated.
Russia is huge as hell though.

Meteroids... meteroids... meteroids...

Sounds like something you use to measure your hemorrhoids.

A meteoroid is a small part of an Asteroid, and I would ask how you can determine if a meteorite (the name for any celestial body which survives entry through the atmosphere and impacts the earth, is a part of an asteroid, or and asteroid? Unless you witnessed the separation between the celestial bodies, or have chemical analysis that links a meteorite to an existing asteroid. You don;t know which is which. So don't be a ******* psuedo-grammar Nazi on funnyjunk.

Great job using a web search! Too bad you're ******* wrong. Canada is #2 only if you count water as well as land. And since I don't think it counts as "hitting Russia" if a meteroid crashed into the waters off the coast, we're talkin' strictly land here.

Biggest Countries Listed by Land Area (According to the CIA fact book)

#1 - Russia (16,377,742 sq km)
#2 - China. (9,569,901 sq km)
#3 - 'Murica. (9,161,966 sq km)
Who's after #3? Who cares...

Well seeing that the asteroid didn't crash into Russia, it exploded over it, I'd say coincidence and you people need to stop reading into everything.
