They add a laugh track to the show because if you listen closely to the show without it, you can hear humour dying.

Its... filmed in front of a live studio audience. It isn't a laugh track. You can buy tickets to go see them record episodes.

They do not add laugh tracks , they have an audience. Learn the facts before you start critizising

Yes, actually, they do. Just because they film it in front of an audience doesn't mean they can't go back after it's filmed and add laughter at certain points. LEARN THE FACTS BEFORE YOU START CRITICIZING.

That is because without the laughter track the timing is all wrong, its like me telling a joke waiting 5 seconds then carry on speaking.

>Filming of the new episode of The Big Bang Theory
>Audience saunters in and take their seats, prepping to be the laugh track
>Intro plays
>Characters walk on set
>The pure sight of Sheldon causes the audience's cheeks to partially implode
>Some of them lean forward in anticipating
>"Lenard?"
>Audience sucks in a huge gulp of air
>Practically writhing forward
>"Lenard, are you here or will this be just like that time I had to find the Princess but she was in another castle?"
>Several audience members explode violently, sending body parts all across to room
>Others fall out of their seats laughing so hard that they break their jaws
>Various audience members go into a trance of laughter, hallucinating the joke again
>They begin laughing so hard that they sacrifice themselves to the bazinga god
>The few remaining audience members regain themselves and sit down
>"No sheldon, I'm here."
>"Good, because I need someone to play the new generic video game with me"
>Audience members laugh so hard that their orifices have liquids pouring out of everyone of them
>They drown in a sea of bodily fluid

I have too much free time.

Big Bang theory is a funny show, I watch do it and laugh.

But it's not a "lolz only nerds will get this" kinda show, all the jokes are understandable by any audience and half the reason some people watch it is for the ego boost so they feel more clever.

It's not a nerdy comedy, it's a comedy about nerds.

Like my dad said about the show:

You know why everyone understands it?
1. Because it uses jokes used in every other show ever
2. Because it uses old, tired nerd stereotypes

That's also what makes it bad. It's not a comedy about nerds, it's a comedy about nerd stereotypes.

I mainly don't like the show because the characters are the most unrealistic, stereotypical, and unrelatable people I've seen on TV. I don't know any geeky/nerdy people who
1. Do math equations just for the hell of it, with no other reason than just to do math problems
2. Pretty much only associate themselves with other nerds with the exception of one or two normals that mainly exist to be made fun of
3. Are masters of every "nerdy" field of interest--most fields of science, MMORPGs, classical music, comic books, retro video games, sci-fi, roleplaying, etc.
4. Have freakishly high IQs
5. Bring up their intelligence and scientific interests when completely unrelated

That and the fanbase is ******* awful. Usually 12 year olds who think watching the show makes them really smart and hipsters who are trying too hard to come off as nerdy (at least that's how it was in 2011). I have had a couple of people try and compare ******* Sheldon to IRL nerds, such as my good friend Dale, who is really into comic books and owns a comic book store. His main passion is Marvel and has been long before that **** became a trend (pretty much since his higschool days, and he's in his 30's), and his wedding was Deadpool themed. If he's not a nerd I don't know what is, even if he doesn't care for science and classical music.

in response to your first point a friend of mine had to get his molars taken out or something like that it was dental surgery but that's not important after the procedure he was high from what ever anesthetic they used so he decided the best way to regain control of his facilities was to find a pen and paper and start doing calculus
of course that is not for no reason but its a funny story that you reminded me of
also people used to compare me to Sheldon... i hated that

That's different. He had a reason to do math. To regain control of his facilities.
They do math just for entertainment.

I have been compared to Leonard. Not as annoying as Sheldon but it still pisses me off.

Who made your friend do math? Friends/family or the dental place? They had me go home and rest up to regain my senses. Sounds like an odd thing to do just for waiting for a drug to work it's way through someones system.

The Physics is credible and there are actual solid references to 'nerd' culture.
Admittedly there are a lot of 'gamer gurlz' that watch the show but it's still enjoyable.
