School vs. Church

Please do not start a *********

I don' t have an issue with what you do in the church,
but I' m going to be up in your face if you' re going to
knock on my science classroom and tell me they'
got to teach what you' re teaching in your Sunday
school. Because that' s when we' re going to fight.

What is with the dickriding of this guy? Yes, he is a very intelligent man who makes some good points, but what is with quoting this man all the time? He seems like a cool guy to get to know, but seriously, everyday I see a post about him just like I see this teenage girl always tweet 1D crap. Does it make people feel smarter if they quote him? I'm a fan of the guy, I just don't get why people are all over him.

*sigh* Is there no such thing as Original Content anymore? No? It's all just reposts and 'as seen on TV' or quotes. Can you not think of your own ways to be funny? You disappoint me, funnyjunk

No sane adult would believe the Bible if it weren't shoved into their minds from childhood.

I always wondered what goes through peoples heads when they try to pull certain science courses, and enlist their belief in the schools (not limiting it to Chirstians, because I have seen many other religions do it as well.)

Are you not considering the other students in the school?
The ones that do not share your beliefs?
You want to instill your beliefs in others, but if someone even tries to just educate the population on a different subject, You scream, shout, and protest those who genuinely want to educate the youth.

Don't get me wrong, there are people who have beliefs, and do great things, and are tolerant. It's just those who envision a world in which only their beliefs are preached, that I have a problem with.

If you want the youth to hold religious beliefs, and you genuinely believe it can benefit other students, then do so before or after the school day. I came to science class to learn about science, not to have my first amendment be made into a joke, where I can't even learn about the subject I had come to learn.

TL;DR

Science and religion don't have to be made as equals, we just need to accept both, and live with them...

Because intelligent design and other **** is not science but belief. Teaching about different religions is not a problem, as long as it's different religions, and the teacher stays neutral.

Because teaching creative design is child abuse. You can't feed children lies as part of their education can you?

Don't just pull ******** out of your ass. Any, any US history textbook will tell you about how the US had little involvement in the European side of the war.

Hell, I just opened mine and I'm looking at the **** right now.

So your school district that does not even know how to manage it's budget and supply students with textbooks automatically generalises all American schools? All, or at least the majority of American schools cannot afford textbooks and teach their students that,"America beat Germany, which is absolutely false"?

It's...It's just sad to even hear that claim.

"few involvements"

it was one of the biggest turning points of the war, along with the rest of the battles after that against germany in which american soldiers were involved.

Wrong argument bro, we're talking about intelligent design here.

It's not dude, you talk as if schools are teaching everyone lies. What gives you any right to pose a serious statement like that?
I ask your age because I assume you're a teenager with no real experience.
User avatar #244 to #240 - rainbowrush ONLINE (03/13/2013) [-]
Age should never play a factor.

You have to be pretty ignorant if you think the different Schools teach no lies. Of course most of it is correct, but a lot of misleading information, half truth and white lies pops up. Most of the lies are either in some Scientific subject or politics/history. You will see less of this in the slightly more advanced countries.
User avatar #246 to #244 - ainsleyreborn (03/13/2013) [-]
They can't exactly teach string theory in physics to 15 year old kids. You have to teach basics so students can understand and gain an interest/appreciation. Teaching basics may mean missing out some more complicated information which will be covered in higher education.

And this is perfectly OK. What is not OK, however, is for example when people learn about the Palestine/Israel conflicts, they usually ignore all the evils Israel did in the beginning.

For Science, it's just important to not do what every teacher did at the middle school I went to. You should not force a system or a way of thinking. Most times when wrong science is taught, it is because the teacher doesn't even know it. Science progress so fast it's hard to keep up. What's relevant now might not be in 10 years. Teaching students this 'wrong information' or 'half truth' might lead to them discovering what's wrong with that. Given you don't get the "THIS IS HOW IT IS", or "DO EXACTLY LIKE SO" ******** .

I have a video I want you to watch, it's not pro-religion, but it does explain it's not really about truth, it's about being vunerable. It is rather long and it does involve someone personal journey, so be prepared

I can't believe all the people being intolerant of the religious, while claiming that others are intolerant of science. The two aren't opposites. And intolerance of intolerance is itself intolerance. Hypocrites.
User avatar #206 to #198 - luidias (03/13/2013) [-]
there's a difference between intolerance, and standing up for what's right. And I'm not talking about trying to convince religious people to abandon their faith. I'm talking about abuses by the church, like the school situation above.

Guys, the Cahtolic church accepted intelligent design a long time ago. I went to Catholic school, and they told us flat out 75% of the old testament is made up and historically inaccurate.
