There was never an armistice, only a cease fire. So technically any confrontation that would break the cease fire would be a continuation of the original Korean war...... The more you know.

That whole "France always surrenders" thing is getting pretty old. I guess it comes from people who only paid attention to the WW2 portions of their history class and didn't even really understand that part very well.

Just for the record: I'm German, so I don't care if someone makes fun of our French neighbors, but at least make it accurate! In the early 19th century, France actually ruled over all of Western Europe and probably had the most powerful and well-trained army in the world. During WW1, there was also no sign of a French surrender. Yes, the French surrendered during WW2, but it's easy for anyone to laugh about that who did not share a border with Germany in 1940. The USA was protected from the Germans not by a superior military, by courage or by patriotism but by the Atlantic Ocean.

You're right about France, but you're wrong that the United States would have suffered a similar fate if we were closer to Germany. It's true that we had an unprepared military when the war first started, but that's because we were planning on sitting it out. If we had been neighbors with Germany, we would have been building our military in response to theirs.
