to be fair to them, they did just pretty much single handedly (with Chad's help) defeat the rebels and islamists in Mali. i was genuinely expecting them to give up after a week. Pic is kinda related to the whole African rebel thing.

That whole "France always surrenders" thing is getting pretty old. I guess it comes from people who only paid attention to the WW2 portions of their history class and didn't even really understand that part very well.
Just for the record: I'm German, so I don't care if someone makes fun of our French neighbors, but at least make it accurate! In the early 19th century, France actually ruled over all of Western Europe and probably had the most powerful and well-trained army in the world. During WW1, there was also no sign of a French surrender. Yes, the French surrendered during WW2, but it's easy for anyone to laugh about that who did not share a border with Germany in 1940. The USA was protected from the Germans not by a superior military, by courage or by patriotism but by the Atlantic Ocean.
