the movie theater in college is like this... expensive as ****. wants like 5 bucks for a drink... but the movie theather in my home town of glasgow, montana (population 3200) is very reasonable.

that big box of sour patch kids is like 2 bucks, and pop is a dollar 25... tickets only cost 8 bucks.

i still sneak **** in... mostly booze and candy.

Very true. I bring in 44oz speedway diet cokes in. Just hold it and drape your coat over it!

I work at AMC now, and a Cinemark for a few years before. Coming from a theater employee i totally agree. 9 times out of ten, as long as you attempt to hide it and your not a blatant dick Its way easier to just let it slide than it is to actually deal with it

Agreed.
Especially if you're a girl. My friend would bring boxes of food in her purse for everyone. One time her mom packed her spaghetti and steak and she was eating it during the movie like no big deal.

I figure, if you wear a large coat, with the pockets in the front, and tuck the thing under your shirt and hold it with your hands in the pockets, maybe no one would notice?

My friend once walked into the movies with a pizza held sideways, the box ripped through and a whole ******* pizza just fell on the floor in plain sight of everyone.
Good laughs were had.

Cinemas are actually the good guys, they keep the ticket prices low which means everyone can go the the cinema, and charge more for the food which is optional for more affluent people.

It's the film companies who use business and accounting techniques to really limit the take home from the cinemas.

When you here a certain film made (x) amount of money in the first 3 weeks the cinemas don't see much of that money, film companies in their contract say something along the lines of " we will take 90% of ticket sales in the first month" and then 30% in subsequent months.

So for a big film all the money comes in in the first month.

google hollywood accounting.

£10 is not a cheap cinema ticket. (Pretty much $15)
Not when you factor in how many people come to actually see the films.
Then charging me another £10 for a drink and a snack?
Please, I'll bring in my own thanks.

You could had snuck candy and a bottled beverage into the theater and find good prices for tickets.

Cinema be like; we dont' actually get any money off tickets sales and rely solely on the food sales, please help us support our staff and cinema and buy the food.

In Britain and Ireland you can just put anything in your backpack and take it in. No checks. EVER.

The fact that people are checked in America amazes me.

This reminds me of the time I tried to sneak in a bottle of soda.

I thought it was well hidden until the ticket girl asked me if I was happy to see her.

I didn't caught on until the middle of the movie.
