This wasn't a cutting remark against americans, it's a post whose intention is both to point out a fundamental flaw with the way humans view other humans based on a measure of importance to distance while simultaneously pointing out to americans that "Hey, we're murdering the **** out of kids overseas, and we should probably take issue with that"

It's normal, why would you even try to change that. It's normal to feel less connected to something or someone when it's far away. It's a fact and I don't see the need to change that.

An increase to humanity's global empathy would go a long way to securing our hopes of not wiping ourselves out before we reach being a type 1 civilization.
