Watch Dogs seems close enough - check out the E3 2012 and PS4 gameplay reveals if you haven't already. It definitely reminds me of AC set in modern/near future Chicago.

Will there still be beds of hay in a modern NYC?
User avatar #226 to #164 - desmondaltairezio ONLINE (03/07/2013) [-]

In AC3 the desmond story line is set in new york in modern times

AC set in modern times in new york
A proud skinhead protagonist beheading ******** hoards and Jewish bankers, I love it.

They've been setting each game at a later date than the last, both in Desmond's world (obviously) and the Animus past lives.

Eventually they're gonna have to go to a past life further back in time, lose the Animus entirely, or shift the Animus focus back to an already used character. Judging by how it's been going lately, I think I'll have lost interest in AC before I find out.

you still have interest for this franchise?!?!
can i have some?
User avatar #182 to #178 - TheHutchie ONLINE (03/07/2013) [-]
No. I have enough to fill maybe half a shot glass, and it's mine.

You should have come to me when I'd started playing as Ezio for the first time. I had pints and pints of interest back then.
User avatar #187 to #182 - thegamerslife (03/07/2013) [-]
Yeah i lost it right before 3 unfortunately. that whole turn based tower defense crap really threw me out of the whole thing.

I found that Revelations completely took away my ability to be drawn in.

When Ezio's family went to the gallows, I felt that in myself. When he and the thief girl in Venice got together I felt quite nice about that (She was cute). It was really immersive.

But then Yusuf Tamir gets stabbed in the back, and I feel nothing. It was like we were supposed to have bonded with him, but it didn't bother showing that. The **** happened?

I know that non-feel man. I remember the ending for 2 and thinking "OMG the next ones will be epic, these can only get better with this kind of story telling!" they must have lost the talent along the way.

i had a feeling that, after III, that Juno would enslave humanity and you would play a modern assassin recruit and you'd eventually end up killing Juno.

... instead i got pirates.

AC4 is further back than AC3
User avatar #176 to #173 - TheHutchie ONLINE (03/07/2013) [-]
Well then my last sentence is proven to be false, but only just.

Seriously, I have enjoyed AC less each time since Assassin's Creed 2.
