A lazy anthropologist is useless, a lazy doctor is a liability, a lazy factory worker makes broken products. The phrase works because programmers and engineers will always be working on complex systems that will require THEM to maintain and update them later on. This promotion of laziness doesn't work on almost any field outside of these two though.

If a lazy programmer designed a databasing system, they'll make it as maintainable as possible, at the cost of performance most likely. Because that will make his job easier in the future. If a non-lazy programmer designed the same system - he'd probably add a bunch of features not asked for and make it complex and harder to maintain (which would ensure his job of course). The development time and cost would go up for the non-lazy.

Only if its a dedicated lazy though... otherwise they will just be like fuck it.

I like you, retrochris. You're right, laziness breeds efficiency, although the opposite is also true. I started out efficiently doing things, highly disliking a wasted motion. Now I am so lazy that I will not do anything that I consider a waste.
