Not true. Take our closest star, Proxima Centauri, for example, A star 4.25 light years away, meaning the light by definition of a light year, has taken 4.25 years to reach us. As the star is currently 4.85*10^9 years old, and has a main sequence life of another 4*10^12 years, so you can wish upon it for another few trillion years before it even goes into its next stage

"You're a few million lightyears late." A light year is a measurement of distance. It should be: "You're a few million years late."

Just a figure of speech. But please, continue your journey of being so literal about everything in your life. It's so fun and everybody enjoys it.

It's a ******* poor attempt at it. Since it is a measurement of distance, using it in this sense doesn't make ******* sense. It's like saying you are a few miles late. It isn't a metaphor, so therefore, it is a *******.

Oh my, who pissed in your Cheerios sir? This seems to be a quite ridiculous subject to get all sorts of "backside tormented" about.

Except it's not. A figure of speech has to be a common saying like killing two birds with one stone. No one who knows what a lightyear is would use it like that, ever. It would be like saying something was a few minutes wide.

This implies that every star in our universe, including our own sun, has already burned out and we are floating through a big, dark, cold void all on our own.
