Hagrid is a reference to the word "Haggard" which means, well, just look at Hagrid, that's Haggard
Hogwarts was an english "game" where you would go into someone's house and rearrange their shit, the castle was named hogwarts because the stairs would move around and rearrange

Did you know that Vol-de-mort can also mean that you steal someone's death, in my opinion closer to death-eater.

Frenchy here and I don't agree that much with Voldemort. You see, the verb "vol" has two meanings: Steal and fly. Whether it's one or another depends on the context.
The literal translation of Voldemort would be "steal of dead", like you'd go in a graveyard, dig up a corpse and take it with you. For "fly from death", it would be something like "S'envoler de la mort" or something similar. I haven't watched many Harry Potters so maybe it was meant to say "fly from death" even though the translation isn't really accurate. Guess you'd have to ask J.K Rowling to know the truth. Still sounds cool.

Don't flatter your french bastards ass too much.
Most of it comes from latin, the only reason why you think it's from french is because french descended from the latin language.
Ps: have fun being overrun by muslims over there

It's like JK chose words because of their meanings, or something.
Actually, I speak fluent French. Voledemort means stealer of death, literally. Vol = steal, de = of, mort = death. As in, deatheaters. :)
