The book was meh' and the movie was blah.

What we have here is Hollywood advertising. So much money was invested in promoting this movie that it became "to big to fail." Its sad this tactic works on so many people. Its shocking how much crap entertainment gets shoved down our throats and the majority of weak minded people buy it.

I always cringe when I ask someone, "Why was (insert movie here) so good" and there answer is "Because it won these awards" Which roughly translates too - "Because someone told me to believe it was good"

I didn't like the book that much because Peeta was a bland idiot and there was no reason for him to live. The whole romance subplot could have been scrapped and it would have made the book decent.

Those are my exact thoughts on the movie. I think everyone just blindly likes it, i told a girl i didn't like it once and she open-handedly slapped me across the face.

I hope you got boob then....I think that should be a rule. Every time a chick slaps you for no reason(because, let's face it. It happens to everyman sometime in their life.) you should get a good ten seconds of boob.

the concept was a good idea, just executed poorly. i didn't like the movie much either, was kinda boring :\

About halfway through the movie, I almost had to leave, because the epileptic camera-work was making me super nauseous.

Agreed on number one, but i personally didn't find her likable in the books either. And i agree about the whole "unconditional love" thing with Peeta, but not with Gale. They were best friends for a long time befor it was even mentioned about them having a romantic relationship.

i think the whole deal with the camera was so that they could keep the rating at PG or w/e it was at because all those fight scenes wouldve been bad

I didn't see the movie because it reminds me too much of what real life could be in the distant future

This movie is like the modern day retelling of "gladiator" where you have an emporor like figure running everything with a small handful of uber-rich just to add salt to the wound and they spend their time abusing the poor and helpless. This blood sport they created is designed to distract the masses so they can continue to sit and do nothing

That is why I didn't see it and this is why I prefer movies with zombies, aliens, robots, etc because the possibility of us being slaughtered by them let alone enslaved is less likely to happen then this

It's one of the only times that makeup wouldn't be good, because it would be totally unrealistic in the Hunger Games anyways.

Sumerized the 1st movie/book for you

From what I've heard, anyone who's seen/read the Hunger Games and seen/read Battle Royale say that Hunger Games ripped off BR, and BR did it better...
But then again, I never read/saw HG, so I can't say anything except that the novel from BR probably makes HG look like Hello Kitty and the manga is seinen.


TL;DR - I can't preach for Hunger Games, but Battle Royale has a very similar scenario and is amazing.

I enjoyed the first book, the second one was alright but not as good as the first, and the last book was just awful in my opinion.

They're all right, I suppose. How should I put it... they're fairly decently done romance novels with plenty of decently written action and some decent attempts at psychological exposition and political intrigue.

They left me fairly ambivalent. I wouldn't read them again, but I don't regret reading them.

Hunger Games is a damn good series in my opinion. I've never read Battle Royale so I can't say if it's a ripoff or not. However, for what it is, it's pretty good.

Middle book was decent. First book was too fucking mushy. Last was epic til the fucking ending. That's my opinion anyway.

I thought all three books sucked. Of course I'm a Dresden fan, so I have an excuse.
