Luckily we have fancy shader tricks to make models appear much smoother without the cost of adding extra geometry. Quick example I whipped up with an M4 I made a few months ago:

What program have you used for that?
I'm creating 3D models as well and I'd like to know what is the most suitable program for doing stuff like you did.

Alright. Nice. Thanks. I just started to work in 3ds Max recently. The wardrobe was made in AutoCAD. :)
Ok, thanks

I dont **** about this, but is all graphic in games made out of triangles? I have seen some high res mods that says they add triangles. I am highly curious as to how this sorcery works

Do companies actually use models with numbers that high for stuff? Got any examples? Very curious.

Well they not use them in high poly, for example: name any character you like of this generation and in the game may look bad of need more polygons but when that char was created they made a high poly model and for the game use a low poly model, added texture with shadows, folds if he/she is wearring clothes and other stuff, then with a second texture called normals, they added the "depth" in the folds, holes or buttons.
So what you are seeing is just a low poly model with effects.

Gears of war, halo, crysis, skyrim and other games that you may think that have a lot of polygons are just low poly model with good textures.

<--- this is a poor example but it show what I'm saying, a very low poly model with a texture that already have the cracks and stuff like that

world of tanks fails to do this and just whips straight ************* 512 mb ram from your graphics card to create all them models. even on low, all they do is lower the graphics- not the polygons by a whole lot.
this game sucks my computers dick more than league of legends, which should do worse...
WoT- 10 Frames
LoL-35-40 frames.

512mb of vram isn't that much today... the cards we have now starts on 2gb minimum

1gb is considered low today
