pretty much every soldier who fought in WW2 or any war for that matter is a murderer. And apart from killing and scapegoating the jews, the Nazi's we're very humane in their treatment of the countries they conquered or invaded, much more so than the Soviets or the USA in Vietnam for instance.

also the USA had concentration camps for Japanese-Americans, The Soviets had concentration camps for pretty much everyone, The Japs raped and Impaled everything they could get their hands on, Italy did their fair share of horrors. every single country turned to extreme and in-humane solutions to keep their war-machine going.

The only thing the Nazi's did differently is that they wore bitching outfits and were the agressors. much like the USA today.

In some cases I know and can see that. But this seem to be aimed at the US specifically. Now don't give me the whole "The US isn't the only country in the world speech" I KNOW that. But I'm pretty sure OP is aiming this at the US.

I agree, though I would take the reasoning further. Because the government also is to stay out of private affairs (marriage outside of religion still being quite personal), and not being needed to be involved in the formation of private contracts in order to enforce said contracts: I think that it should not even get to limit, control, regulate, etc. what a civil union is.

I think it should only be involved in enforcing already created private contracts made between consenting, agreeing adults (which is already part of its job), which marriage is a part of, religious or not, between two people or not, etc.

In other words, as long as people are consenting and all that, they can get as freaky as they want. What they do in the bedroom is none of anyone else's concern. That way if people think up something even freakier in the future (but it's still between consenting adults), it won't need the law to be resolved AGAIN.

Oh and as for legal benefits: I think everyone should get the tax breaks (why discriminate against those who are single or don't want to marry?), and signing over things in advance like who's allowed to visit you in the hospital shouldn't be as hard, etc.

Well there is different types of marriages. So you are partly right about "a religious ceremony joining two people before God" That's why I disagree with people being against me marrying a chick. Because not every marriage is about God. I'm not disagreeing with you but the religious people don't have a good enough reason. Well I kinda like being able to stay with them at the hospital. As well as being considered family. I like knowing that if I die before they do that they can keep the stuff and NOT the state. I kinda like the tax benefits. I also like being able to take the "plunge" As relationships tend to seem fleating while marriage gives you a sense of foreverness. "sorry no, I am dating someone" vs "sorry no I am married"
