Well, fuck comment 35 and being an over opinionated bitch, but I've personally found the two games (LoL and DOTA 2) to actually be two different games of the same type.

LoL is more simplified and allows for people to have an easy first step into the MOBA scene; as you start to play more and more you understand what the different classes are and what the items are (more so if you know how to use mobafire as a guide).
You're forced to try different champions as the free weeks go by, making you more likely to taste as much play styles as possible, until you can afford a champion you can settle on and learn how to perfect it. Then, there's DOTA 2.

DOTA 2 gives you all the champions, so you can match whatever style you were used to with LoL seamlessly. It gives you more room for tactics (which is why it's so complex), so any stagnate matches that occurred where cookie-cutter tactics were all that could be used in LoL becomes less likely as you're now more able to adapt to whatever champions you have a weakness to and adapt to whatever situation is happening with the team.

If you enjoyed MOBA and want to go beyond what LoL has to offer, you go for DOTA 2.
If you're intimidated by the complexity of it or simply just want a game you can play for fun and not need to think of all these tactics, you stick with LoL.

I see no point in arguing which is better like alsohaschel did, and thought that was relatively childish.

dota 2 is more unbalanced (noobchars like juggernaut) and can be minmaxed easily, in lol you can fight to the end and even turn a lose into a victory, in dota 2 you just lose after someone gets a few kills since you lose cash and they get cash, some chars can easily win 1v5 and its just plain stupid, the ledge system is pretty pointless and doesnt bring much to the game, just saiyan, dota 2 is a nice game, but dont go around saying its more complex then lol, you probably didnt get far enough in lol to have to be complex

and therefore it is somehow superior. If I was asked what 1+1 equals and as an answer I explained the origins of
the number 1 you would not say "That is by far a more correct answer than 2!" In a genre that already
has so many variables with hero lists the size of Africa and abilities that require or affect terrain to benefit or detriment
over complicating it with miniscule bonuses handed out by a dozen items with unnecessarily elaborate build trees does not constitute a "better game"
it makes it a convoluted game wishing it were still in the player made WC3 engine to excuse its ragtag piecemeal systems.
Half the time playing that game it doesn't even feel like the developers gave any thought to their creations,
its as if they all sat down at a conference table had a brainstorm and instead of picking only the good ideas
the just threw every idea in there. DOTA2 is a turd of a game with a few sparkles on it. LoL is a turd of a game with many many more sparkles.

I never said DOTA 2 was superior at all - that was the point of addressing it as two different games of the same type, therefore they couldn't be compared, just be of preference.

i play DoTA , LoL and HoN. I have no strong feeling one way or the other.

What about how the devs treat the community? I'm not sure about DotA and LoL but the HoN devs let you take a look at the java so you can make the bots better.

meh I played it way back in the day, got gifted DOTA2 played that after playing LoL.
needless to say when put up to a head to head comparison LoL wins hands down
in every department.
now I have like 4 copies of DOTA2 i can gift but I wouldn't wish that terrible game on my worst enemies

I got DOTA 2 gifted, it's good, but I find that having too many Heroes to choose from when you start is a bit overwhelming, and the shop is outright confusing. What killed it for me though was moving around the map. I either had to sacrifice my abilities or control of my movement to use the arrow keys, and using the mouse wheel crippled my hand and was really slow to move around with. I know I can click on the mini-map, but just moving around a small area was a pain.

How long have you played again? It takes 10 minutes to realize almost EVERYBODY is an overpowered cuntmuffin.

Since Christmas, but every champion is overpowered if you play them correctly and if they're fed.

Welp looks like the op circle has come around again, used to be adcs then they got nerfed. then it was ad casters and black cleaver, then it was the league of warmogs/bruisers now it's back to adcs with Bork and/or health shred. Some days i just want a little bit of consistancy with whats the best and what isn't.

Veigar can still consistently get 1000 AP in a 40 minute match with a decent build and being able to last hit.

True, i find his stun is wonky to use aka i suck with him, and i find his lack of escapes are not in favor with everyone else with shit ton of mobility as with a few other mages. These can be worked on with positioning and skill but that is my shortcoming

I play full squishy so I struggle a bit in team fights, but if I catch their entire team in my E and drop a W right in the middle then I can just one-shot the AP carry with my R and use Q on whatever's left. The only problem is that Veigar is the walking definition of squishy, so I need a tank.

But since it's Veigar, I learned to get good quick with my E. Though in 1v1s they stand no chance. At 1k AP my ult does something like 650 +1200 plus 80& of their AP, and it's a single target with good range, add a Q doing ~1k damage with the scaling, plus the stun and W (which has ~1.4k damage) and nothing ever survives.

Yea he really does well with a good team at your side, i play mostly adc so i have the syndrome to always be autoing something no matter what im doing, which leads to me being out of place and getting caught. Makes me with i knew how to use cleanse/qss better,

He does incredibly well with a Cho. Cho knocks them up and my w crashes on their head. I actually got a kill earlier today where Cho knocked them up into my w so it hit about half a second early :L

The only time I ever have a major problem is against fizz. I fucking hate fizz.

And Vlad is rarely played and even more rarely played well, so I don't often have trouble there. But I believe his pool doesn't stop him getting stunned, so it's all good.

Ah. gotcha. I hated them removing MBR for Bork, MBR on a AS yi hurt like hell in 3v3.

I've played against Vlad once in about 400 games, I was AS/AD Yi on 3v3. I didn't get to see his potential because I just followed the pool and carried on killing him when he came out of it. I killed a minion wave while waiting to keep my health up.

I've had a vlad on my team about 3, maybe 4, times, they were always shit and fed, even with his pool of escapism (or as I call it, the Houdini Liquifier)

I've seen some Vlad wreck face before, but i feel that he is only used is certain team comps

as one who mains talon you did it wrong.
cutthroat to enhance damage on other abilities
rake to damage and slow enemies
mercy passive and cuthroat now enhancing your damage by 10% and (cutthroat damage bonus)
use noxian diplomacy which should have a high damage boost to it
use your ult within 3 seconds to take full advantage of cutthroat and slowdown to boost it's damage.
in other words 10 seconds is ridiculously long for a talon fight you would need to do everything in the time of silence (1 second) also your combo was not too well done.
