He does have a point.

Drinking is bad. It's a weakness. I hate the people who go to parties and can't have fun with their friends without alcohol. It's pathetic that they can't enjoy themselves at a fucking party with all their friends without needing to drink. Or the people who hide in a bottle from their problems. It's just a crutch. Man the fuck up and deal with your problems. Life is hard, man up. It's also horrible for you body basically like drinking poison.
