$3.59 in Alabama.

From my understanding, doesn't Europe have a kickass public transport system? We barely have commutable buses here... The only way that I can travel about town is by car. We don't have any bike lines and you can rarely find sidewalks that reach to stores and such, they're only present in neighborhoods.

So unless I'm mistaken, gas is still more expensive here because we use more of it? Of course I'm sure there'll be some people who are like pizza delivery boys or something and burn shittons of gas, but I'm just saying, it seems to me as though gas prices are a little more important here in America.

a return ticket from my house to town is about £8
its 7 mile to town
the same trip on my motorbike costs me 70p

you sir is a smart one, yes you are absolutely right. We europeens have a excelent public transport sytem, trains going about everywhere in central Europe in speeds of up to 200 mph (if I remember correctly). The car is not liked by the goverments.

If you live in a big city then yes... I live a few km outside a smaller city in Sweden and there's close to no public transport here and the gas is like $8.70 a gallon. Also I don't think there's a big difference in public transport between a bigger city in Europe and one in USA.

Good point. I don't live in a large city either, so I guess my viewpoint would be slanted towards that.
