the words "lead" and "read" can be pronounced in two different ways depending on how it was used. Example:

"Lead is a sort of metal".
"I have read this book before".
Here the two words rhyme.

"I will lead you to a conclusion".
"I will read this book anyway".
Here the two words have another meaning and sound, but still rhymes.

Hope it helped.

Lead (Pb) pronounced as led, rhymes with read pronounced as red, as in "I have read that book, It was good" it's Past tense. Lead, Pronounced leed, as in "I will lead you to victory" rhymes with read pronounced as reed. As in "I am reading this book" Hope that helps.

This is why I'm glad that English is my native language. I imagine that learning **** like homonyms and homophones would be really frustrating.
