Yeah, not sure if the part where he trips the fuck out is in the book but the part in the movie is the majority of my nope feelings.

What movie is that?

Stranger than Fiction. Will plays a monotonous guy whose life suddenly starts being narrated in his head by a british woman. Turns out the british woman is a writer, and she dictates everything that happens in his life. All of the books she writes are tragedies, so she has to decide whether to make a good book and kill him, or leave him alive and let the book fail. He spends most of the movie trying to find her and deal with her saying "Little did he know, blah blah imminent death." can't remember exactly what she says.
It's a fantastic movie.
