The vikings actually had a very peaceful way to live. Yes, they where quite brutal and barbaric when it comes to war and pillaging. But when they where at their own village, they had around 20-30 rules to live by, which worked.

Some of them were obvious, like "You should always carry your blade with you.".
And some went like this "You should always find work" and "Keep a clean village".

and there is this one "If someone has commited a heinous crime, you have the right too decapitate him."

Basically they had an eye for an eye based judicial system. They ****** up everyone that wasn't a viking and pretty much loved each other like family back home.

The reason they used this rule "You should always carry your blade with you.". was because a sword was often a family heirloom, so they used it as some sort of fashion.
And when plowing the fields, and if any thieves or intruders where to come, you would be able to fend them off, and defend your family.

Also "If someone has commited a heinous crime, you have the right too decapitate him.", where mostly used if you found someone who where on a bounty or wanted.
it's not like you could chop the head of a petty apple-stealer.

you are sounding retarded right now, you know that?
Vikings werent retards that went around yelling "RAAAUGHRRR", raping everyone in their presence.

Yes they where equipped with logical thinking. They even had a courtroom equipped with a jury and a judge.

Im saying, they where allowed to defend themselves and they where allowed to kill wanted people on sight.

Also, if someone insulted you you had the right to challenge him in combat.
And if the insult was expressed in rhyming verse you had the right to challenge him in deadly combat.

You forgot to mention that the women were actually also, to a degree, in charge of the men. The women set curfews for their males, so if you where stuck at the longhouse drinking and didn't get back in time, too bad.

IIRC, women were also in charge of the household's funds. So basically these dudes raped and pillaged and all this **** to get the gold, then came home and had to had it over to their lady.
