The boy bought shoes for a handicapped girl in the hopes that he could cheer her up by him thinking she could work to walk again or for the first time, I truly believe from a serious standpoint he was honest and innocent. But being so young he might not have comprehended the consequenses that would follow.

This one has a feel in it. Do you see it? The girl told him she dreams of becoming a ballet dancer. All that he could do to make her wish come true was buy her a pair of ballet shoes even tough he knew she could never really wear them for their real purpose.
No its not the fact that they were shoes it was the fact that they were ballet slippers.
My first thought was that it was his sisters birthday, and when she got shoes, he stole them and took em' on, and therefore got dragged away...
