I think the picture is merely representative. "These guys existed this long ago, but this is the most recent picture we could find that's relevant."

It wasn't until the technology went to the Janissaries in the Ottoman Empire that they were extensively used in battle effectively and it wasn't until the professional armies of England and France that firearms would make up the bulk of the military. learn2history
