helltard (02/25/2013) [-] if they got rid of pennys you wouldnt pay 1.99 you would pay 1.95 so you would get a nickel instead of a penny. you dont need pennys. and nickels also cost more than they are worth so you might as well ban them too. meaning you pay 1.90 bam you just saved 9 cents that you wouldnt have before

helltard (02/25/2013) [-] no. its a marketing thing, they make more money if they sell things for 1.90 than for 2$ because people by more thinking there is a noticable difference and the money gets made back by the company. thats why they dont already just sell things for 2$ as opposed to 1.99. also in other countries prices have not risen at all.

Tell that to Canada who just retired their 1 cent coin. When you lose money minting it then what's the point of using it? Round every price to end with a 5 or 0 and even with taxes included all totals will be divisible by 5 (aka the nickel).

you cant use pennys or nickels in vending machines and the math has been done to prove that the amount of time we spend messing with small coins like pennys and nickels costs us money that we could be making doing something else. there really isnt a logical argument to keep them

a reciept from Media Markt for 223.49
yea, im not rounding up and losing another cent. a penny saved is a penny earned. call me what you will, i make jokes about me being a capitalist pig, but when you dont make too much, every cent counts. i dont care how much it cost to manufacture it, make it smaller or something, it needs to be there as an equalizer.
