Well on the internet, not really life (generally). You see, atheism is looked down upon by most societies in most countries around the world. The word "atheist" has very negative connotations. If an atheist were to try and share their lack of belief with people, well things wouldn't go so well for them. However, on the internet, everyone is free to say what they believe. Because atheists generally aren't able to talk about their lack of religious views in real life, the pressure builds up and pours over on the internet. Generally speaking, most "douche" atheists have only had their lack of belief for a short period of time, typically a few months or maybe even a year. I used to be one, but then I learned self control and figured out that people generalize, and one douche atheists makes them all look bad.

It's not really an excuse, but just keep in mind that most atheists have problems with their lack of belief in real life. Don't get too pissed off.

I completely agree, but on facebook I see way more preaching from christians. Atheists usually concentrate their shoving to actually shoving it into peoples faces whereas christians just usually rant on about it more openly and frequently.

But in all honesty, I can't understand how one can honestly believe in somethign such as religion. I mean, you think magic is fake and impossible. But here you are, believing that Moses spread apart a sea. And that God, created the universe.

Faith is a gift that not everyone has received and that's fine, I take no offense at all good sir. But just to clarify, it is a singular omnipotent God we believe in. Religion is what we use as guidelines for worshiping him, providing a sense of community in faith, as well as moral guidelines (it's not like if you take religion away from a religious person they'll suddenly become social jackoffs, they are simply there as a reference point for times of struggle.)

About the Moses point you made, chances are it wasn't an event of "magic" that split the red sea, chances are it was a strong east wind called a "ruah" that is rare in that region. Many events in the bible can be explained with science, the great flood Noah built an ark for could have been a flash flood of the Nile river, which would have been devastating to that region. The 10 plagues of Egypt have been proven scientifically possible (it's a great documentary, can't remember it's name for the life of me). Just don't make the mistake many people make and turn religion against science, they can co-exist.

I'm not trying to convert you or change your mind, simply explaining. If you haven't already, try just looking into a religion, you may just find one that appeals to you :)

Stuff that you see on this site isn't just atheism. Most of it is Militant Atheism. I'm a Christian, and I've pretty much learned to ignore it. Most atheists are chill. It's basically like non-racists and racism. They just... don't talk about it. Like it's a non-factor.
