If you saw the golden globes, you'd have seen an eldery woman (a winner, can't remember who) had trouble going up the stairs and like 4 guys promptly stood up on the front row and tried to help. Among the men who tried to help, was Ed O'Neill (Jay from Modern Family) who isn't young himself (he's fricken 65-ish years old), and that made me respect him irl.

How is it garbage? It's way better than any other entertainment event I know of. The Grammys for example, Drake won one. If the Oscars were like that you'd see Twilight as a nominee.

I don't like either to be honest. Sure actors and musicians can be awarded for their efforts, but they only get awarded if they are already famous. It's less of a celebration of talent and more like awarding people for being famous. You also have to consider the fact that actors are not the only contributors to a great film, they play a large role yes and that shouldn't be overlooked, but without good material to work with, a setting to do it in, and a team to back them movies would not be nearly as good, but the people in the background are not famous, with the exception of a some directors, they will never earn the awards for all of their time and efforts.
