Absolutely. I love Cage and all, but hes better for a modern character. I dont know why, but in movies like season of the witch I cant take him seriously, he doesnt belong in the past. He just has a modern face. I cant explain it.

Lord of War was outstanding, personally I think Kick-ass was the best movie he's ever been in. Kick-ass was one of the very few movies he didn't play Nicolas Cage, and he actually really nailed the role.

The problem with him is that, at least recently, he has proven totally incapable of turning down a role, regardless of whether he is suited to it. (cite. Ghost Rider, Sorcerer's Apprentice, etc.)

That's because of his money issues, he's taking all movies he's being offered right now

I'm not saying he doesn't have his reasons. He made a lot of mistakess and landed himself in millions of dollars of financial debt. The problem is that in doing so, he's significantly cheapened his appeal as an actor. The smarter thing to do would have been to remain selective. Actors like Tom Cruise and Leonardo DiCaprio know what roles they can succesfully pull off, accept only those roles, and as a result, are two of the highest paid actors in the world. Nicholas Cage is like the Costco of the actor world.
