The second amendment is to protect us from the government. how effective is that if they take away any of it's effectiveness. also those things can sound good until you find out what they actually entail. and why the **** is it going after our ability to import weapons. actually read these please.

The only reason the second amendment is in your constitution is because when it was written during your revolution, the government thought that the british was coming back. They thought that there was going to be a second invasion by england and its colonies. So therefore they to ensure victory they created the second amendment so that the general population would have easy access to weapons to fight the invaders, so that the government could quickly and easily call on a militia army. Because it was the militiamen that was a vital part of what won you your country. Do you even know your own history?

by your way of thinking none of the constitution is valid or should be respected anymore than since it was written during a different time.

its not a way of thinking as much, it was the truth of the times. As well as the fact that most of the rest of your constitution should have been written with generalised rights and laws which should transcend the test of time.

the second amendment was written as a generalized statement. in never once mentions the brittish coming back.. it does mention having a well formed and regulated militia, but it also states that it is every citizens right to own and use a firearm. this can be use for home defense. it can also be used to defend against foreign invaders. it can also be used to defend against domestic threats, such as an over reaching government, people like timothy mcveigh, and the organization he belonged to. the founding fathers tried to leave things open to some interpretation because they understood that as time progresses things change and as such adaptation must be allowed. which is why we have the ability to add amendments to the bill of rights. there are other factors involved in the whole gun control issue we are having here in the states. personally i am against what that dumbo eared waste of space of a president is doing, you want to put restrictions, not bans but restrictions on fully automatic weapons thats fine, but some of the weapons that are included in the gun control proposal are perfectly fine hunting weapons. and the restriction of how many rounds you can have in a magazine is complete crap. i am a hunter as well as a sport shooter. by sport shooter i mean i find it relaxing to grab a box of ammunition and my gun and just go out to the gun range or behind my brothers place in the country and just target shoot. now if i want to do that with more than 10 rounds at a time that is my right. i think all the firearms companies and firearms accessory companies out there should stop selling to the government and police agencies if they pass this garbage. not to mention i am a little leery of someone who says "you shouldn't have so much ammo" but at the same time is currently purchasing 1.4 or 1.6 billion rounds and has stated the reason for doing so is they want to have the equivalent to 5 rounds of ammo for each person in the usa.

My dad told me that all NATO ammunition is armour piercing because it is meant to wound, not to kill. The bullet is able to travel completely through the body so it doesn't expand and cause further damage. I just thought i'd share.

actually he's telling the truth, read the geneva conventions, it's actually stated in there, military weapons have to, by law, only cause clean wounds, that's not to say sometimes bullets will get stuck inside someone, because **** happens, and the ammunition is a major part of that, that being said, soldiers are trained to shoot to kill, still, that's them doing the killing, not the gun

you just contradicted yourself. you said he is telling the truth but then said the soldiers shoot to kill but he said they shoot to wound not kill.

I said the ammunition is meant to wound, but how the ammunition is used is a different story.
