But do you really want it to be implemented? The way most insects breathe is through small tubes that go along their body. Since they have no actual lungs to move the air around, the tubes' size is limited by how rich in oxygen the atmosphere is. That's why bugs were fucking huge millions of years ago when there was more O2.
These lamps getting used worldwide= less CO2 = more O2 = flying insects the size of small birds all over the place = most people losing their shit = chemical warfare with the bugs = accidental casualties in the civilian population = political tension = shit hits the fan on a global scale = world war 3
These lamps will cause World War 3 and, no, I'm not going to crack a "Half-Life 3 confirmed" joke.

Finally we can get rid of trees and replace them with superior technology. That shit is old. It was in serious need of innovation.
Now all we have to do is find an alternative habitat for mammals that live in trees and we are set. Synthetic paper is already here...but I guess I don't have a problem with people who find them pleasing to look at keeping them around.... begrudgingly ....I suppose....grrgghhhh.
NO FUCK THAT...and fuck trees. Break my fucking arm will you?.....can't even support the weight of an average man can you? LIAR FUCKING TREES. I read in my encyclopedia Britannica that a FUCKING SITKA SPRUCE tree branch can support an average sized man....but NOOOO.....Four fucking months in a cast over that shit. Are you calling me fat trees? Is that what you a fucking doing? Calling me fat? The encyclopedia was made of paper...which is made out of trees...I'm Fucking on to you trees.
You know there is a reason tree branches are called FAGGOTS trees?......FUCKING TREES MAN. FUUUUUCK

The sad thing about this is that if they were to try and make these commercially, electric companies would just buy all of the patents for these lamps and not use them, then it would go back to business as usual.

But there's a problem.
They're ugly.
Now please don't misinterpret this. I think this is an amazingly cool invention that, in my opinion, look really cool. But at the same time, we need to be realistic. We might think it looks cool, but the average city resident will not. A 57 year old living in the city is going to complain about massive glowing green tubes they have to walk by on their way to work.
If they play the "going green" angle, they might be able to get them in use, but at the same time, no matter how efficient they are, the fact that they aren't attractive makes them a liability.
Pic related. It's my cat in a garbage can.

Just the other day I read a study that states Trees are not our primary consumers of C02, nor are they our crucial Oxygen producers.
Although trees do in fact consume toxic C02 and produce life giving Oxygen, its almost a closed system. Whatever Oxygen they produce during the day, the consume again during the night. There is little breathable excess for another organism to breathe.
Smaller plant organisms though, such as algae and phytoplankton, have extremely short life cycles with blazing fast growth spikes. This means that ounce for ounce, pound for pound, they consume many many times more C02 and produce many many times more oxygen than any comparable biomass of tree.
Trees aren't keeping us alive. They produce just enough air for themselves. Its the slimy stuff in muddy ponds and the vast green slicks in the ocean that keep everything on this planet from suffocating.
Fascinating, no?

In brightest day, in blackest night
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might
Beware my power, Green Lantern's light!
