I hate this site.

There are obvious similarities between FJ and 9Gag,
but subtle differences within the sub-culture,
and incredible differences in complexity.

9Gag really, really wants to believe they're the funniest site on the internet when most of their content is stolen/unoriginal. (They literally have "9GAG is the largest fun sharing community in the world" tacked on their front page.) They draw pride from this ignorance/denial.

Funny Junk knows and admits much of our content is stolen, unoriginal etc. We know this, we understand it, but we accept it and still feel pride through our fair share of OC makers whom we thumb generously. Not only that, we're not just a site for a quick laugh like 9Gag, we've got boards where lasting friendships and communities take place, different channels that cater to different people. (Is there a gore channel on 9Gag? How about a channel dedicated to League of Legends humor?)

Think of it this way, we've got front page, top comments, boards, channels, profiles etc.
9Gag just has a front page. That's it.

Comparing 9Gag to FJ is basically comparing a sail boat to a cruise ship.

Then leave.

Check out the comments then. I never laugh at the content, but the comments put me in tears some days.

I've been here forever and I prefer the way it is now to some of the other times we've had.

Remember when the entire site was obsessed with shitty comic makers and Dsend ruled the site?

Remember when "comps" were all anyone cared about and every post was just a collection of reposts?

Remember when every single post on the front page was a fucking rage comic and every punchline ended with "me gusta"?

Remember when items forgot to backup the site and the site was rolled back half a year?

Humor is like drug addiction. Over time your resistance builds up and before you know it, you need something really messed up to have any affect whatsoever. At least that's what it's like for me.

Well, I've noticed for a very long time now that funnyjunk isn't so funny, but I somehow just want to come back again and again to it.

Except for the boards, funnyjunk isn't any better than 9gag.

To be honest, just like almost everyone says, it's all about the comments. They are most of the time better than the content.
Also, FJ is incredibly varied. Sometimes, everyone's doing a good job in being a faggot (me included), and sometimes a lot of people are genuinely creative, smart or funny. Sometimes there's mindless hate, and sometimes there's real wisdom (although very rare). Sometimes it's very tolerant, sometimes border-line Nazi.
Sure, we get shitstorm posts sometimes, but even then, some people try to be funny.
I can't name any other site that's as good (comment-wise, at least) as FJ.

9gag doesn't have much a community to even hate.

They don't have bronyfags or hatefags.

They don't post the same stupid fucking feel posts every two weeks.

They don't think they created memes, they just want the funny.

We, however, want nothing but fat girls to pose naked for us in NSFW so we can call them "perfect," jump on bandwagons at an excessive amount, and dick ride other sites and make attempts to bash other sites without even looking at both sides.


FJ is the shit because of what it used to be, funny comments, and the user interface. Everything else? Not really. It's more of a "is it honestly worth moving to another site and restarting."

TL;DR? We aren't any better.

Because people like you always post annoying complaint posts or repeat the do you even lift, dickbutt, injecting too much marijuana, or dat 9gag watermark op is a fag posts 412 times an hour instead of actually trying to make funny content and burying any good content in the process. And when someone isn't whoring for thumbs on a 9gag post they're calling an OC maker a cancerous fag to try and get them to leave the site so their content can be reposted in a never ending cycle of self pity and hypocrisy.

I personally like this site, because I have no where else to go.
