But when they crash they are most likely not on the wave runner anymore. Your argument is invalid.

money doesn't buy happiness.

But I'd much rather cry in a mansion.

ahhhh, people's misconceptions on how people get rich. I love 'em. You see very, very, very few millionaires actually spend money on a lot of things. The median (50th percentile) dollar amount that a millionaire makes is about $131,000. You know how they became millionaires? The invest and save. The general rule for them is save and invest 15% before doing anything...even before paying bills. A lot have a higher percentage of their income that they choose to save and invest. There are very few that become millionaires because they have a high income...that is to say that most people with high incomes spend everything they earn. The average millionaire will buy a used car once in maybe 10 years, but high income producers often buy new cars every year. They will keep moving to bigger houses, never budget, invest, or plan their financial future. Ironically, these people who don't spend are generally less worried and happier than those who do. So it is more knowing that you have enough money to weather down anything that comes at you that makes you happy over buying things with it.

Wel, I'd rather be sad in a mansion, than sad in the gutter.

Given the money, I'd pay a guy to break up with his girlfriend.
If he refused, no matter how much I offered him, then I wouldn't pursue it further -- he's a nice guy and she deserves him.
