i dont dislike the videos because they're popular, i dislike them because i dont find them funny and yet i can't seem to go anywhere without seeing someone post them or having to hear people talk about them both on the sides of liking and disliking them.

not wanting to be surrounded by something that i dislike has nothing to do with it being popular. think of something you dislike. its doesnt have to be anything big, just something that might be a minor annoyance. now imagine almost everyone you know and encounter doing that thing. its not much fun.

There is a difference between something being popular and something being popular amongst stupid people.

In my opinion, gangnam style song sounded stupid the first time I hear the song. When the dance became popular, my reaction was "How the fuck is this popular?". The song was simply terrible, the dance looks stupid and repetitive, and even though lyric isn't that bad, it wasn't great. In fact, in terms of lyric, since it's Korean, most people (including me) has no idea what it was unless they have access to some sort of translation source. So I don't even know how did it become popular "worldwidely"

I agree with you though, it would be a stupid thing to do to hate something only because it's popular.
