the slippers were actually made of squirrel fur, not glass. How you ask? it's a wrong use of the word verre (glass), and vair (squirrel fur). slippers made from "vair" could be viewed as the modern day equivalent of mink coat: highly expensive.

What if I told you the English translation of Cinderella had a translation issue, the shoe wasn't made off glass, but out of leather.
