there camera could translate the image into sound and then she could train herself to hear the sounds and associate them with things... like a sonar camera... or it could just be really funny to watch her struggle to take good pictures

ya know, that could actually make a practical device for blind people, some glasses/earpiece thing that uses sonar to tell the blind person about the environment around them and why has this not been done already?

well because it'd be really expensive to do that and each person would need to be taught how to use the technology... seeing eye dogs keep them from being hurt, and since it's not possible to create an actual image for somebody who's never seen a device like that would only be able to alert them to other objects in the area.
