Carp is hard to get the hang of, but once you learn its secret, it just clicks. It becomes one of the easiest and most natural puzzles in the game.

I would youtube it. That was really the make or break for me. Maybe I can explain this in text somehow.

- Work on one side so you can shift over. the top two, bottom two, two on the right or two to the left. Working diagonally or three at a time means that you can't clear your board as often.

-You keep the two open ones so that you can get rid of some of those annoying peaces. The Plus sign and (Sometimes hard to believe) Straight are a pain to get rid of. The squiggly everywhere piece is actually pretty good if you don't get 7 of them in a row.

- This one is obvious, but try to place your pieces so you'll need the more common ones. the square with one piece sticking out and crazy squiggly one that reminds me of Maryland.

-If you have a masterpiece that is ready to be made and will usually put out two new holes, but still need to work on another one, work on it until you have to finish the masterpiece (within your own judgment of course). This will let you utilize more pieces until you need a fresh board for all those awkward pieces.

I don't think i'm explaining it very well. Youtubing it for sure will help you. Do what you will with this.

The easiest IMO: forgetting grain bonuses and getting masterpieces consecutively. A trick I use is getting rid of the less common pieces first. Your "Oklahoma" shaped block is the most common for me, so I usually leave gaps for that. Just Youtube a video on how to do ultimate.
