Actually this is completely wrong. The episode in question (Dalek) takes place in the year 2012 and the meteor that was in deed mentioned landed in the Ascension Islands which is in between South America and Africa and in the middle of the Atlantic ocean.

The scene which you can reference this is when Henry Van Staton, the Doctor, and the assistant were in an elevator discussing how the Dalek landed on Earth.

if you are going by land mass, you are correct, it has about 11% chance of, if hitting land, hitting russia, but because asteroids have no choice of their own and cant choose where they hit, you must take the whole worlds surface into account, not just land mass. russia takes up only 0.09% of the world, making it MUCH less likely and still proving that this show FUCKING AMAZING

this site is full of retards. i did the actual math myself, with actual numbers, and came out with a much lower percentage. surface of earth is 510 million squ kilos (www.universetoday.com/25756/surface-area-of-the-earth/) and the surface of russia is 17,075,400 squ kilos (www.bing.com/search?setmkt=en-US&q=surface+area+of+russia). divide the two, you actually get about .03%, even smaller than my initial estimation. now shut the fuck up and move on

I love Doctor Who as much as the next guy, but the first season was definitely not the best. I think if you give it another chance starting with the first episode of season 2 (or the last 2 episodes of season 1), you might enjoy it more. Not saying you'll get hooked, but that's when I got hooked.
