Actually, in fast adn furious, they do not go into higher gears, since that would not give them bonus acceleration. Instead they shift down to a lower gear, giving them an extraboost, but also bringing additional damage to the engine and afterwards shift into the higher gear, which then can produce more acceleration than before and therefore a higher speed at a shorter timeinterval.

You can also downshift into a lower gear like 1st or 2nd when going around corners, and shift into a higher one, giving you more torque around the corner and thus more acceleration when leaving.

downshifting doesnt cause damage to the engine, that's what you have a rev limiter for.

Every Defender, no matter how fancy or new, leaks a little bit on the passenger side. Sometimes things fall off, doors never close quite right, something is happening in the engine bay and the gear box is about 10 inches from the driver.

and the gear box is so manly and clunky, it puts pubes on your hands shifting it. may not be the most comfortable, but it puts a smile on you every trip.

Okay, DNF was not their fault, Forever was stuck in development hell for so long no matter what company got it it would have turned out ****, but Gearbox stepped up, took control, and released it, but now since they have the rights, I bet the next Duke Nukem will be batter than ever because they actually have the time an resources.

Yeah, I think the issue is gearbox taking over games mid-development.
That was also the issue with Aliens.

Borderlands is easily their best IP because it's the only IP they have I think that is solely theirs. They had complete creative control with Borderlands and that's why it's good, I have faith in them with Duke Nukem because it seems like something the will be able to pull off, I wouldn't hold my breath for another Aliens game though

My defender has a 5 speed, but i dont notice the difference really.
