"Oh boy, I need a new synonym for the word 'laugh'. Glad I put my compact Oxford English Dictionary in my pocket before I left home today!" OC from my local bookstore.

It doesn't seem like it should be that big when every word on the internet is just a different acronym for "LOL".

The full oxford English dictionary has 59 million words and constitutes 20 volumes in its latest edition. So that's pretty ******* compact.

59 million words to describe 616,500 word forms. Should have been more specific.

OP here. It's actually got a sort of sheath. The book is about three inches thick, and then it has a half-centimeter thick thing it slides in to keep it shut, because just being able to flip it open would be too convenient.

Wait... If you need another word for the word 'laugh', wouldn't a thesaurus better suit your needs?
