Medusa was cursed by Athena (I believe) because Medusa was so conceited about her looks and told Athena she was more beautiful then her.

Actually, if I remember the myth correctly, Medusa was a priestess of Athena, and thus required to remain a virgin. She was raped in Athena's temple, and for some reason Athena blamed it on her and cursed her.

um... no. iirc, she was caught doing it with poseidon in a shrine to athena. posiedon was athenas rival god, but for some reason that i dont remember, she cursed medusa, turning her to a gorgon & giving her the stone vision thing
