Because of my genetics, I'm exceptionally tall for my age. 6'7(2m, about) at the age of 16. I don't give a shit if you don't believe me, because that's not the point of this comment.
What I'm trying to explain:
---->Being tall isn't all advantages. <----
There are some MAJOR drawbacks from being tall, especially if you are at a point that is considered "abnormal". I'm a loud guy, and I talk far more than I should, so I guess I "fit" my height, however;
1.) Back problems. My entire family has it. My dad was stuck in bed for a full month as he did not want surgery after one of his disks slipped(couldn't afford it). I'm destined to be fucked by it eventually, regardless of how healthy I am throughout my 20s and 30s. I have a P.E teacher who got his back screwed up because of a tiny fall+his height, and he was the fittest guy I knew. He can't run or jump anymore, and he's probably going to end up losing his job.
2.) The "intimidation" factor is a double-edged blade. Yea, it's nice to get your way out of conflict by being tall, but height does scare people. The amount of times people I care about have freaked the fuck out when they turned to face is me is too many for me to count, and it feels kinda painful. Yeah sure, you can understand why your girlfriend would freak out when she turns around to see a giant, but it still stings a little that you scare her.
3.) You automatically draw attention to yourself. Want to be a quiet, reserved type? Hah, nope. This is the main reason why a lot of tall people ARE assholes, it's because they can't just hide away in some corner and pretend they don't exist. They are the elephant in the room.
4.) The world is not built for tall people. Seriously, I've considered walking around with a helmet on. I automatically duck when going through doorways, regardless of the height of the door frame.
I realize this shit seems trivial"and stupid, but its something you can't control. The fact that we scare people because we're tall sucks.

i'm 6'6 and also, when you meet new people. the only thing they talk about is how tall you are. and sometimes they forget that we spoke about it so they ask like three times per person. it's really annoying and i'm sick of it.
I hear you.
Another factor you have missed is how everybody thinks just because you are tall you must be old i was 5'6 (i am an asian girl so that is really tall where i live) when i was 15 and everybody thought i was 20 plus or something as if height has anything to do with your age at all because people stop growing height wise when they turn 21.
I have always dealt with this problem all my teenage life as i am big boned and for a girl it is pretty nerve wrecking.

While there are some small drawbacks i'd prefer being overly tall than being too short, let's say 5'4, you are instantly seen as less manly and you're underestimated without even meeting in a conversation with anyone.
You, Also, When entering a new job have less chances of being promoted because of your height, it just makes you look "not as powerful" as normal or taller height people, it's a psychological thing people seem to find more authority in those who are bigger than the norm and less authority in those who are shorter.
As much as i hate it women also find taller guys MUCH more attractive, i have no idea how or why but they do and us shrot guys can't do anything about it.
If you're short you're usually not even worthy of a fight, because if someone did attack (let's in a school/work environment) they would later look bad for attacking some so defenseless. You might the world's best martial arts fighter but you have to prove it by getting IN a fight, tall guys just stand there and they're already seen as powerful.
There are so many more reasons but it'd take me a while. My point is you would MUCH prefer being tall than being short

Oh, don't worry, I never implied short people had it easier. I'm just saying tall isn't a field trip either.
Average height is probably best.
On the note of fights: I've had a few shorter guys step up to fight me because they felt like they had something to prove. It's irritating, and I realize their frustrated, but you have to realize that tall guys CAN'T win fights. If a short guy fights a tall guy and wins, the "underdog won" and he's held as a hero. Some shithead started a fight with me, and I was the one who got in trouble after I beat him because they automatically assumed I was the aggressor because of my height. Some people even had the guts to tell me "I was cruel" after he sucker-punched me and I retaliated, because he was 5'2.
Consider it this way:
>Oh, you're tall and you won a fight? It's only because you're tall.
>Oh, you're tall and you lost? What the fuck is wrong with you?
I wholeheartedly agree with you on the psychological/job aspect, but fights are a different matter. The tall guy is always the bad guy in a fight, which is why we tend to avoid it as much as possible unless we're utter douches. I'm not saying you have a Napoleon complex, but people who do are extremely hard to deal with as a taller individual, because they'll always be the victim and you'll always be the aggressor.

average isn't that good, me being 5'7 and the average being 5'8 but surrounded by Europeans i had it harder getting into the rugby team, girls prefer my friends because they're taller, and everyone making fun of the principal because he's short when i'm his height. It's just that feeling of being "pretty good" but you're short so no you're not good enough that just makes me wanna move to japan or some third world country so i can taller than the average.
I'm just gonna wait until some sort science is developed to make people taller

Aye, slightly taller is better. If I had stayed around 6'3-6'4, I would be happy as larry. The issue is that I'm going to cap out at 6'8, and I've already been banned from playing American Football due to a minor back injury I sustained by my parents. Abnormal heigh restricts, too.
If you want a short country, go to either Colombia, Guatemala, Panama, Brazil, El Salvador, or Ecuador. There's a few areas where you won't get shot, and we have decent food in some places in this region. You'll also be above average height.

yeah being slightly taller than average is good. I'm about 6 feet tall even, and although I have some of the problems very tall people have (I hate being in cars because it kills my knees), but there aren't that many, or nearly as extreme. I'm not really seen as tall, but nobody calls me short, as I'm taller than about 70% of the guys at my school, and nobody's really freaked out by me or anything like that.
BTW- what's your build like, and how tall are the people around you? Because I have several friends in the 6'5-6'7 range and they don't freak anybody out, and I've hardly ever heard complaints from them about most of the stuff you've said. It might be due to your build, or several other factors that augment the problems cause by your height.

i know of of growth hormones and also of the bone growing method, both expensive and with side effects, a friend of my dad's used growth hormones because his own growth hormone was deficient only to turn out him being 2 meters tall and looks like Frankenstein, it's a gamble also with the bone lengthening one being VERY expensive and takes almost a year to accomplish
Believe me, I own what I have. I've surrounded myself with people I get along with, and I'm doing fairly well for myself. As long as I'm with friends, it doesn't really get mentioned/noticed. I usually remember when I smash my head against something that's hanging lower.
You have a valid point, but to be honest 3.) isn't a problem for me. The intimidation factor isn't really a matter of "being a man", it's a matter of not wanting people you give a shit about to be terrified of you for the sake of convenience.
My main issue with my height, as you can probably imagine, is the scope of back problems. Living with a hernia is not fun, and if one of my disks slips I'm out of basketball and just about everything else I'm doing. I realize it might seem like "looking too far into it". The thing is: when you have two generations of family members getting royally fucked by back issues(two are now in wheelchairs because of it), you tend to get a teeny bit paranoid.

Those feels.. I'm 18 and have been 6'6" since I was 16. I'm athletic and active and play baseball but because I'm so tall, my knees always hurt, I can't sit in a car for more than 45 minutes without my knees being in extreme pain because I can't straighten them. And then of course there's always to factor of people being scared of my height. People say girls like tall guys well that may be true but they don't like them this tall.
Ever tried flying in a plane? Those chairs...gragh. No leg space
I know what you mean about the girls thing though. Girls don't mind it, or at least the girls I've dated haven't, but I'm yet to get a girlfriend who is less than 8 inches shorter than me. It doesn't bother me that much, and every girl I've dated doesn't have a problem with my height.
The issue is although when they see who I am they calm down and are happy, there's been a few very painful instances. I was in a very, very dark room at party and I found a friend of mine. I poked her on the shoulder and when she turned and all she saw was a huge torso, she panicked. It was only when I turned on the lights and she saw my face that she put away the fucking MACE she was taking out from her bag.
Granted, she's a special case, but there have been many somewhat similar incidents. It's just part of being tall I guess.
