A lot of the people that won are really just a product that are used by large companies to make money off of, like Bieber, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, etc. But I am posting this pic because I get a little butthurt when people say that you need to play an "instrument" to be a musician.

I can see where you're coming from, and I agree that electronic music is difficult to make, but I don't think that makes it worthwhile. There's a certain sense of emotion that comes from musical instruments, especially guitars and pianos, that you're never going to hear in a recording. You really have to hear those instruments in person to take in their emotional effect, and that's something that electronic music can never have. It's always going to sound computer generated, because that's all it ever can be.

I disagree with that, but really it is up to the listener to get the "emotion" out of each song, so if you don't hear it, then I can't argue it. I personally believe that producers can show emotion through this medium because it is still a type of composition. While it can't be done live, it certainly captures the emotion of the artist at the time they made the composition.

Also since the whole scene of electronic music has turned into the party-rave scene, I feel like people don't hear a lot of electronic music that has more meaning than just to get you pumped up or excited.

I mean, music is what you make out of it and it is all preference, and I do appreciate that you recognize it does take time and effort to make.

I understand that it's all based on preference, but, I'm not sure how to describe this. Perhaps I shouldn't have used the word "emotional" but "human." Instruments sound human, they sound like they have personalities, and there seems to be a feeling behind their sound that can't be expressed electronically. Perhaps it's the small mistakes that the artist makes in person, or something along those lines, but instruments can have an emotion expressed outside of just what is written into the music.

Do you think that the piano sounds "human"? Because technically it's just buttons being pressed in a sequence at different velocities and with slight variations in tempo due to a human's limitations on quantizing notes to be exactly in tempo. I think of electronic music as a great step forward because it allows for more possibilities to be explored.

I do, yes. It isn't the possibilities of sounds, its the slight variations that come each time an artist plays.
